Cub Scouting is a program for boys and girls in grades K-5 that focuses on building character, leadership, and citizenship. Scouts participate in activities like camping, hiking, STEM projects, and community service.
Any child in grades K-5 is eligible to join Cub Scouts. We strive to create an inclusive environment for all children.
The annual cost per Scout is $440, which includes:
Pack Dues: Cover activities, awards, and equipment.
BSA Registration Fees: $115 per year, covering insurance, reduced camp fees (council hosted), property maintenance, and a national program fee.
Youth Protection Training (YPT) is mandatory for all Den Leaders and adult volunteers in Pack 504. This program is designed to ensure the safety of all Scouts by educating volunteers on the best practices for creating a secure and positive environment. The training focuses on recognizing, responding to, and preventing potentially harmful situations, affirming our commitment to the well-being of every Scout.
The BSA Council is a regional administrative body of the Boy Scouts of America, overseeing the Scouting program in specific geographical areas. Pack 504 is part of the Pacific Harbor Council, which supports Packs, Troops, and other scouting units within our region, providing resources, training, and programs.
A chartered organization is a community group or institution that partners with the Boy Scouts of America to use the Scouting program as part of their youth work. These organizations, like Lake Tapps Christian Church, provide support, meeting locations, and help oversee the local units.
Our scouting year begins in September. Each Scout is placed in a Den based on their grade level.
Scouts are expected to attend one Pack meeting and one Den meeting per month. We also offer optional monthly hikes and two camps hosted by the Pack—one in fall and one in summer. Additional council-hosted camps are available throughout the year at an extra cost.

Parent involvement can range from volunteering at events to assisting with activity planning. We require a parent or guardian to be present at all activities.
Our main fundraiser is popcorn sales, which are optional. Families who prefer not to participate in fundraising are welcome to pay the dues directly.
Yes, we work with families who need financial assistance to ensure that every child can participate in Cub Scouts.
Scouts earn belt loops for each adventure they complete and receive patches for participating in special activities.
